Building a partnership for nature conservation and tourism in Romania

MAIN OBJECTIVES

  • Implement rural development and nature conservation policies through ecotourism in the Retezat-Hateg area; Călimani-Vatra Dornei area and Danube Delta;
  • Implement the Ecotourism Certification System;
  • Promote Romania as an international ecotourism destination;
  • Raise awareness and lobby for ecotourism at the national level;
  • Run a Small Grant Programme;
  • Run training courses.

Duration: October 2005 – December 2007
Budget: 110.000 € (70.000 euro, funds for the Small Grant Programme run through the Romanian Environmental Partnership Foundation) the equivalent of 200.000 € (funds run directly by USAID for the activities of the project)
